Guess who's back, back again. Guess who's back, pizza in hand.

Happy tri-aversary tooo me, happy tri-aversary to meee, happy tri-aversary dear Maaaadi, happy tri-aversary to me!!!

My first tri in Philly. Clearly my enthusiasm
for race photography has been there since Day 1.
OH HEY THERE! What better time to return to bloggin’ after months of silence than my TRIAVERSARY! June 23, 2013 I jumped into the Schyukill River to kick off my love affair with this sport…. and WHAT a ride it’s been! (note: I recognize the posting date is not June 23rd, but there was a solid month between when I started writing this and when I finished it. Classic MK.) I feel so so so lucky to have met such amazing people and achieved physical feats beyond what I thought my body was capable of as I swam, biked, and ran my way through these past four years. I’ve been encouraged by an army of supporters along the way, and even roped some of people into joining me in this crazy sport! Ten years ago I never thought I would be where I am today, and I’m sure my friends who have known me since 2007 can say the same (shoutout to keepin’ that bench warm my entire high school sport career!). In my case, you miss 100% of the shots you DO take J

ANYWHOO, my months-long silence has certainly not meant that I have abandoned training, tris, or the four to seven of you that read this! Without further adieu, a recap of my life.

As promised, this blog is 5% “everything else”, so here’s a recap of what I’ve been up to for the past 8 months:
-       Moved across the country (small life changes, ya know?)
-       Started teaching fitness classes at Basecamp SF
-       Ran the North Face Endurance Half Marathon in Marin Headlands & tested my new pre-race plan of drinking a few glasses of champagne the night before. Don’t think I’m one to ever turn down a holiday party invite…
-       Experienced a season of skiing on more snow than I’ve ever seen in Tahoe. ACLs = intact!
-       Started a job with Cigna
-       Got dead last in the beer mile at Golden Gate Triathlon Club’s (GGTC) training camp
-       Kicked off the triathlon season with Monte Rio Oly and Escape from Alcatraz

Also as promised, the 10% pizza portion of the blog, the best pizza places I’ve tried in San Francisco thus far:
Tony's Pizza Napoletana, in all it's glory <3 <3
-       Tony’s Pizza Napoletana
-       Pizzeria Delfina
-       ‘Za
-       Goat Hill Pizza

Pizza places that suck:
-       Extreme Pizza. (Note: the name should have warned me. Really? That’s the best you could come up with? Extra sucky that this is the closest to my apartment yet the suckiest)

And now for the remaining 85% of this blog, triathlon & a report of my first race of the season, Monte Rio Olympic! Written in-between bites of DFW airport pizza (add that to the sucky pizza list). If nothing else, at least I am on-brand.

xoxo
MK
